1st Day San Jose / Carara Biological Reserve
Morning
departure to Carara Biological Reserve a low mountainous
area of about 11000 acres comprised of secondary and
primary forests with lakes and rivers located just next
to Villa Lapas Reserve. This park is very important
in Costa Rica because is a transitional zone between
the Dry Forest from the North and the Tropical Rainforest
from the South. Considered to be one of the best birding
locations in Costa Rica, at Carara it is possible to
observe over 350 bird species throughout the year as
well as many mammal. After our naturer walk,
we proceed to the beautiful Villa Lapas Hotel for check-in
and buffet style lunch. Later this afternoon get ready
for your suspended walk in the forest with our bilingual
biology guide . The "Villa Lapas Sky Way" is a union
of natural trails and hanging bridges (hammocks) throughout
a wonderful rain forest of centenary trees. It is located
in the hotel's own private reserve. Our late afternoon
tour will allow you to see many species of birds and
animals. This trail has a length of 2.5 km with a descending
slope and is very accessible and safe for children and
adults of all ages. This unique attraction consists
of 5 bridges, four of them each a 100 meters long! Built
completely in metal and held fast by metal towers, these
bridges are fenced and railed to ensure your safety
and comfort. Dinner and overnight Hotel Villa Lapas.

2nd Day Crocodile Safari Cruise / San Jose
After
breakfast we dapart for our Jungle River Cruise on the
Tarcoles River. Famous for its large American Crocodiles,
the Tarcoles River forms at the Northern border of Carara
Biological Reserve. Full of jumping crocodiles, some
over 15 feet long and weighing over 800 pounds, the
Tarcoles River features beautiful landscaping and is
right below a major Scarlet Macaw flight path. Scarlet
Macaws, Jesus Christ Lizards, and over 120 species of
birds can be seen here. Our custom-built, flat-bottom
river boat glides you downstream on this quiet river
with your naturalist guide, who describes the birds,
animals, and their habitats in great detail. After visiting
the river mouth, we venture up a mature mangrove estuary
before returning upstream to a lovely property for lunch
and refreshments. Afternoon return transfer back to
