1st Day
San Jose/Pacuare
Early
morning pick up from your hotel. We will stop in Cartago,
the old colonial capital of the country, for a hearty
breakfast of gallo pinto (rice & beans), scrambled eggs
and strong Costa Rican coffee. Then after a two hour drive
due East, we arrive at our put in point. Here our guides
will help load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment
and undergo a precise safety and paddle talk. This first
day provides an amazing welcome to the Pacuare gorge,
its rapids and beauty. We will weave through sections
with names like "Rock n' Roll" and "Watch Out". A swim
during a stretch of flat water is followed by lunch on
the banks of the river where a tributary joins the Pacuare.
Our run this afternoon ends in a hard rapid that will
give you a taste of the Class IV water waiting for tomorrow.
We will arrive at our lodge and pull out point located
right on the banks of the Pacuare. The lodge "Cabecar
Indian Style" bungalows with shared baths have crisp cotton
sheets, running water and electric lights. Happy hour
and dinner leaves most ready to turn in early. Meals

2nd Day
Garcias' Indian Village
The
day is designed to remain at the lodge and enjoy its
beautiful rugged surroundings. If a good long rainforest
hike is what you want, our expert trail guides will
plan a 5 hour hike to an Indian village. You will experience
a side of the Pacuare that few people will ever know.
Overnight at the lodge. Meals BLD
3rd Day
Pacuare River/San Jose
After
loading our gear boats, prepare to paddle through the
spectacular gorge of Rio Pacuare with amazing rapids,
waterfalls and bird life. Today's run is more technical
and challenging. Lunch is served on the river. You will
never forget rapids like: Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron
and Dos Montanas. Bathrooms, changing rooms, cold drinks
and snacks are waiting for us at take out. Transfer
back to San Jose. Meals BL
